Happy Monday! More importantly, Happy Veteran’s Day!!! Yesterday, today and tomorrow I am thankful for those who risk their lives to make sure that mine stays safe!!
There is a video circulating around the internet of a homeless Veteran and his physical transformation. It really is quite the powerful video, for a couple of reasons. First I think, the way in which he sees himself changes, once his appearance does. You can tell that he just feels more capable, more confident and is able to recognize a small piece of the person he used to be. But more than that, I think it is a reminder that all people, regardless of their looks or current state of circumstances are just like you and I. They may be on a different path than we are and it may be hard to see the person under all the “struggles” but they are still deserving of being treated like a human being. I’m not here to judge another persons circumstances or life choices, though I won’t say I am immune to that. I am human, it happens. However, this video was a nice little reminder to me that I really should think twice before I do. This man, no doubt has been judged a 1000 times per day for his “choices” yet he also gave his life to us, as a member of the United States Armed Services. He is deserving of more!!
If you haven’t had a chance to watch, take a look!
As for transformations, I have another one to share, though not quite as drastic!!
I have felt the “itch” to do something different with myself physically, for a while now. At first I tried coloring my hair and that held me over for a while but not long after, I started wanting more. A bigger change.
For the last few years, I have been sporting a long-haired look and I really loved it. Until recently. I went from loving that my hair could be styled into Victoria Secrets style waves to really just feeling blah about it. I know some people are crazy over their hair, especially long hair but for me, it really is just an accessory, not a body part!!
So, on a whim I decided to be different, to make a change. I am so glad I did because I feel like a new person. A younger person. A sassier person. I may not actually look any younger or more sassy but you know what, feeling it, that is what counts.
I’m on the left and those other long-haired ladies are my beautiful friends, Brandi and Serena.
The curly version
The straight version
We’ve heard it a million times, confidence really is the best accessory one can wear and I really believe it! My outside now matches my inside and what a wonderful feeling that is!! It may be just a little hair cut but it made a big change in how I feel!!!
What type of hair person are you? Long or short? Or does it matter?
Confidence? Do you agree that it is the best accessory a woman can wear? How do you build your confidence when you need a little boost?
