The Bumpdate: Week 16

Well look at that! I am finally back with a bump update. I had every intention of posting a 15 week update but the wifi at the hotel we were at on vacation wasn’t cooperating so instead of stressing about it, I decided waiting another week wouldn’t hurt. Especially at this point, where there isn’t much going on under my shirt. At 16 weeks, I am starting to see the beginnings of a real bump but it is far from big. Not that I’m complaining as there is plennnnty of time for growing down the road!

How far along: 16 weeks

Sorry for the poor photo quality! My husband took it and he doesn’t have a steady hand, obviously. ;-) Also, this was taken at night so my belly is a bit larger than it looks during the day.

Size of baby: Baby boy now weighs in at three to five ounces and he is four to five inches long. Pretty much, he is about the size of an avocado. I love avocados!!

Weight gained: I’m not real sure as it seems to fluctuate daily but I would say between four and five pounds. I will have my official weigh in on June 27th at my next Dr. appointment.

Workouts: This is the first week I have done anything other than walking since I was put on pelvic rest. As much as I WANT to increase my workouts, I am a nervous to push it too much, While I want to keep my weight gain to a minimum and “pop” back after pregnancy, in the end a healthy baby is what is most important. Having said that, this week I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes, three times per week and started incorporating a very small circuit into my schedule every other day.

It looks like this:

20×3 sets of Body weight squats

12×3 bicep curls

12×3 shoulder presses

Symptoms: The “girls” are really starting to change. I won’t go into too much detail but they are looking quite different from normal. Also, I am a peeing machine. I drink a ton of water during the day so that’s part of it but I am getting up twice most nights as well. Other than that, I’m feeling pretty normal which is quite common for being in the second trimester.

Food Aversions: I can’t really think of any right now.

Food Cravings: I’m still loving carbs but fruit has become a close second, especially berries of all kinds! Lemonade had also been on my mind a lot lately. There is something about the sweetness and tartness combined. Yum!!

Sleep: This is very on and off. I really like to sleep on my back and since I’m supposed to avoid it at this point, I am not always able to get comfy in bed. Several nights per week I will wake up, toss and turn and not be able to get back to sleep for a while. Annoying but it is what it is.

Belly Button in or out? It is very much in and unless for some weird reason this pregnancy differs from my last, it will stay that way. I have an insanely deep belly button.

Labor Symptoms: No labor symptoms yet but I swear I am already experiencing some Braxton Hicks. I know it’s early but this is my third pregnancy and I think my uterus knows what it is doing. I will feel a tightening in my belly(gets hard and round like a ball) a couple of times per day. It doesn’t hurt at all but it is a weird feeling.

Looking forward to: Getting out of the in between stage. My real clothes still fit but aren’t exactly comfortable or flattering but the majority of maternity clothes are still too big. I am also ready to start feeling my little boy move around in my belly. With this being my third, I am hoping I will feel him sooner this time. I think that is one of the BEST parts of pregnancy!
